Channel Surfer is a California-based electronic musician. For the release of his last 3 EPs I handled the visual identity, art direction and digital media collateral for his release to multiple streaming platforms and social media.

As each Channel Surfer EP is an experiment in different sounds, themes and stories, I also evolved the aesthetic of each EP to match this.

The theme of his latest EP being technopaganism (the use of modern technology or music within neopaganism and magical ritual) I wanted to create a visual style that felt slightly occult and gothic, yet futuristic at the same time. To achieve this concept I utilized old-style serif and black-letter fonts with a futuristic chromatic overlay effect. For the color-palette we chose a minimal deep-blue and black palette, which felt both ethereal and dark yet futuristic and digital.

The previous EP, “Rogue Wave,” features a sort of psychedelic surf-rock vibe and visual look.

Finally the 1st EP “Homecoming” was influenced by 80s/90s nostalgia from the artist's youth and featured artwork with custom photography depicting retro toys in a surreal way.
